A proposal was submitted earlier this year to bring a unit on Huddersfield Road, Waterhead, back into use by opening a Mexican cafe.
The site had previously been operated by Furlong Sewing Services, however, the business moved to Delph in January 2023, leaving the Waterhead site vacant ever since.

That is set to now change after a planning application was approved for the Mexican cafe to open.
The ground floor will have a customer seating area offering around 15 spaces to people to dine in, with a kitchen and preparation area towards the rear of the property.
The unit on Huddersfield Road will sit between the Happy Family Chinese takeaway and the former Farmers Boy pub, which is set to become a house in multiple occupation.

According to planning documents, no major changes will be made to the front of the building.
The most significant works will see an extraction and ventilation system to be installed at the rear of the building.
The plans were recommended for approval before being formally approved by Oldham Council on Wednesday, May 27.
