Lever's Fish and Chips has issued a plea to customers following a string of "fake, misleading and aggressive" online reviews.
The chip shop has raised concerns about Google reviews that target staff personally and which it says do not reflect genuine customer experiences.
The business said in a Facebook post: "Recently, Levers Fish & Chips has unfortunately been receiving a number of fake, misleading, and aggressive Google reviews.
"Many of these reviews appear to be making personal comments about members of staff outside of work-related situations, rather than providing genuine feedback about our food, service, or customers' experiences within our shop.
"Google reviews are intended to help customers make informed decisions based on real experiences with a business.
"Personal disputes and comments unrelated to the service we provide do not give an accurate reflection of who we are or the standards we work hard to maintain every day."
It added that it was "disappointing to see reviews being used in a way that does not reflect the true customer experience at Levers Fish and Chips" and urged customers to judge the business based on their own visits, not third-party comments.
The business also encouraged anyone with genuine concerns to contact them directly so issues can be resolved through conversation instead of negative public feedback.
It said: "If you've enjoyed your visits to Levers Fish & Chips, received great service from our staff, or simply love our food, we would be incredibly grateful if you could take a moment to leave us an honest Google review.
"Your support helps others see the real Levers Fish & Chips and means the world to our hardworking team.
"Thank you to everyone who continues to support us – we truly appreciate every one of you."

Lever's has been based at Tommyfield Market for decades and is home of the blue plaque recognising Oldham's claim as the birthplace of fish and chips.
With the market set to be demolished, the much-loved restaurant and takeaway is preparing to make its move to a new town centre location later this year, the former Bright House unit next to Shoe Zone in Spindles.
While work continues, Lever's Fish and Chip shop is still open and serving customer from the Tommyfield Market location.
