Royton’s first Indian restaurant is set to open this summer, taking over the unit formerly occupied by Bodycare in the town square.

The new restaurant will be run by a local family, with chefs recruited directly from Mumbai.

Under the name 'Bombay to Britain', the new restaurant is slated for a mid-July opening.

The owners have now revealed more details about the opening, announcing a community event to celebrate.

The family-friendly event will involve live entertainment, free tastings and opening offers for the whole town.

Bhakti Paresh, owner of the restaurant, said: "As residents of Royton, opening here was an easy decision.

“There is already a great range of food in the town, and we are proud to add authentic Indian cooking to it, made by chefs from Mumbai using real, traditional flavours.

“We want people in Royton never to have to travel far for food that feels both special and like home, whether that is a midweek meal after a long day, a relaxed weekend lunch with the family, or a takeaway on a quiet night in."

The arrival of the new restaurant means that all the units in Royton Square are occupied.

It joins a number of other popular restaurants and bars that have opened up over the years, adding to the town’s growing reputation as a food and drink hotspot.

Rakesh Joshi, Director at LCP UK, part of M Core, owners of Royton Square, said: "Royton Square is now fully let, and this final letting says a lot about the confidence people have in this town centre.

“We are continuing to improve the food and drink on offer at Royton, giving local people even more reasons to visit and to stay a while."

Bodycare Royton, known as Graham’s, closed in 2025, along with 32 other stores across the country as the company went into administration.

In April 2026, plans were submitted to turn the empty unit into a nail salon.

These plans were later withdrawn and fresh proposals for the restaurant were submitted last month.

A precise opening date for the restaurant is yet to be confirmed.
