Drone footage show Tintwistle Moor fire near Glossop damage

The fire broke out on Wednesday (June 24) night and is still being tackled by firefighters as of Friday (June 26) morning.

Videos and images have shown the damage caused to the 200-hectare area near Glossop, with a huge cloud of smoke rising in the area.

Some residents as far as Bolton have said they could smell the smoke as the fire continues to rage.

Jon Pearce, MP for High Peak where the fire is happening, said he was "saddened" by the incident.

He added: "It's vital that we all do our part to protect our moorlands, countryside and communities, especially during periods of hot, dry weather like we’re experiencing now."
