The Oldham GP surgeries with the most unhelpful reception staff have been revealed.

The latest rankings have been compiled based on the results of this year’s GP Patient Survey, which asks patients about all aspects of their surgery experience.

All the data was collected between January 2 and April 13, 2026, with the results published this month.

‘Helpfulness of reception and administrative team’ is one of the questions covered by the annual NHS England GP Patient Survey.

Some of the other areas covered by the survey include how easy it is to get an appointment and how often patients get to see their preferred GP, as well as their overall experience.

In Oldham, the surgery with the most helpful reception staff in 2026, according to patients, was Leesbrook Medical Practice, where 100 per cent of respondents answered positively.

Ninety-five per cent of respondents also rated the surgery positively when it came to overall experience.

A spokesperson for Leesbrook Medical Practice said: “We are especially proud that our reception team has been ranked number one out of 6,166 GP practices for being helpful.

“This remarkable achievement recognises the vital role our reception staff play in supporting patients every day.

"They are often the first point of contact for our practice, working tirelessly to help patients access the care and support they need with kindness, patience, and professionalism.”

Also ranking highly for reception helpfulness were Moorside Medical Practice, where 95 per cent of respondents rated them ‘good’, closely followed by Oldham Family Practice with 93 per cent.

At the other end of the spectrum, the practice with the least helpful reception, according to patients, was Greenbank Medical Practice, where 64 per cent of patients rated the service positively.

In a statement, the surgery partners said: “We value all patient feedback and use it to help improve our services.

“While survey responses represent a small proportion of our patients, they highlight important areas for focus.

“Since late last year, we have introduced a new appointment system, which early feedback suggests is improving patient experience.

“We remain committed to continuing these improvements for our community.”

Greenbank Medical Practice was followed by Glodwick Medical Practice with 70 per cent and Hill Top Surgery with 73 per cent of patients responding positively.
