A major festival is set to cause road closures across Rochdale.

The Feel Good Festival 2026 will see the temporary closure of several roads to ensure safety.

From Friday, August 7, at 12.01am, until Sunday, August 9, at 11.59pm, the following roads will be closed to all traffic:

  • Fleece Street from King Street to Packer Street
  • The Esplanade from Newgate to Vicars Gate
  • Packer Street for its entire length
  • Town Hall Square for its entire length

Further closures will affect:

  • Newgate for its entire length
  • South Parade for its entire length
  • The Esplanade from Manchester Road to Vicars Gate
  • Fleece Street between King Street and Church Street
  • Nelson Street from Packer Street to Church Street

These roads will be closed to traffic, waiting, and loading at all times.

Alternative routes will be marked on the street during the closures.

The council has stated that the second list of restrictions will only be enforced as necessary between 4.30pm and 11.59pm on both Friday and Saturday.

These measures aim to ensure the safe and smooth running of the festival, which is expected to draw large crowds.

Visitors to the festival are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time for travel.
