Oldham residents are being encouraged to make the most of their green spaces.
The call comes during this year’s Love Parks Week, taking place in Oldham from July 24 to August 2.
Organised by Keep Britain Tidy, the campaign celebrates parks and green spaces and the many benefits they offer.
Oldham Council is highlighting five reasons to enjoy the area’s parks.

The first is a chance to discover somewhere new, such as Alexandra Park, Tandle Hill Country Park, and Daisy Nook Country Park
All 32 parks and green spaces across the borough are listed on the council’s website.
The second reason is to get active, with parks offering an ideal setting to improve physical and mental wellbeing.
Oldham features a range of outdoor gyms for all ages and abilities, including fitness trails through green spaces and formal workout areas.
These facilities help residents improve strength, balance, and cardio fitness in a natural environment.
The third reason is to let children burn off energy during the holidays.
Parks include playgrounds, open spaces, and plenty of spots for family picnics, making them a cost-free day out.
Junior parkruns are held every Sunday at Uppermill and Alexandra Park.
The fourth reason focuses on wellbeing.
Parks support both physical and mental health by offering opportunities for social connection, time in nature, and stress reduction.
Residents can enjoy birdwatching, spot colourful wildflowers, or simply unwind in a peaceful, natural setting.

The fifth reason is to attend an event.
Oldham’s parks host a variety of activities and events throughout the year, bringing communities together.
Events offer residents a chance to meet new people, get active, and learn new skills in a relaxed setting.
Darren McGrattan, assistant director of waste, cleansing and greenspace at Oldham Council, said: "Love Parks Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the wonderful green spaces we have across Oldham.
"We are home to some of the very best parks and green spaces in Greater Manchester, and we're incredibly fortunate to have such a diverse range of beautiful outdoor spaces right on our doorstep.
"I would encourage residents to get outside this summer, visit somewhere new and discover everything our parks have to offer."
