Two women were reportedly arrested after a 'brothel' in Oldham was raided by police.
Councillor Mark Wilkinson, who represents Failsworth West, said the address on Miriam Street had been the subject of repeated reports from residents who believed it was being used as a brothel.
Greater Manchester Police is understood to have executed a Section 8 PACE warrant at the property on Tuesday (July 28).
Cllr Wilkinson, in a post on social media, said: "I received numerous concerns/complaints regarding illegal and illicit activity at varying times throughout the day and night.
"With [Councillor] Sandra [Ball]'s help and that of the community, evidence was collated, and a Section 8 PACE warrant was executed at the address on Tuesday evening.
"Sandra and I received the attached email this morning, from Police Sergeant Rob Coggin, and I would like to thank him, and all those who helped us pursue this outcome.

"Together we can get the results we want for Failsworth, and I hope it sends out a clear message that this kind of behaviour is not welcome here, and we won't tolerate it."
Cllr Wilkinson also shared the letter sent to councillors by Failsworth Neighbourhood Team Sgt Coggin.
The officer said two women had been arrested during the operation on suspicion of engaging in or inciting prostitution for gain.
Sgt Coggin wrote: "It was clear that the action taken provided reassurance to those who have been affected by the issues associated with the property and demonstrated that their concerns had been listened to.
"Following the warrant, a 48-hour Closure Notice was authorised, and I am pleased to confirm that today (July 30) Tameside Magistrates’ Court granted a Closure Order for the property.
"The address will now be closed for a period of three months."
He described the closure as a "significant outcome" for the area and a clear example of what can be achieved when residents share their concerns with police.
Sgt Coggin said the result showed the value of 'ongoing engagement' between councillors, residents, and law enforcement.
Cllr Wilkinson thanked police and members of the community for their efforts, and hopes the closure order will provide lasting reassurance to residents.
