IT was a good-news day on several fronts for Oldham RL Club, who moved up to second spot in Betfred League 1 with six tries and a 34-4 win against London Skolars.
More than 700 fans were there – nearly 300 up on the corresponding fixture last year and the second-highest attendance in eight league games at the same venue between the same teams since 2010.
More than 50 youngsters were signed up to join the new junior members club Roary's Pride and about 200 young people, many with parents, were there with Oldham schools as part of The Oldham Pledge initiative.
It was all capped off by a team performance which head coach Scott Naylor described as the best all-round show of the season so far.
Chairman Chris Hamilton thanked everyone concerned and said the club was "delighted" with events on and off the pitch.
Centre Zack McComb and wingers Kyran Johnson and Lee Kershaw each scored wide out in the corners while Phil Joy (two) and Jack Spencer plundered tries down the middle and Dave Hewitt chipped in with five goals from seven attempts.
