BETFRED League 1 side Oldham have re-signed their former second-row ace Danny Langtree from Super League outfit Hull FC.

Langtree (28) got his release from a two-year deal at Hull and Oldham fought off fierce competition from other Championship and League 1 clubs to take him ‘home’.

“He had several good offers,” said coach Scott Naylor. “But our chairman, Chris Hamilton, deserves a lot of credit for bringing Danny back on a contract to November 2020.

“It’s not easy to find extra money on the budget in mid-season to sign a player of this quality, but Chris has done it and I’m ecstatic to get ‘Langers’ back with us.”

Langtree said: “Things weren’t working out for me at Hull. I’m 28 and I need to be playing every week. I’m grateful to Hull for signing me in the first place and I wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”

Added Naylor: “We’ll also have Danny Bridge back soon after a long-term suspension so it will be like having two quality new players in the squad.

“It’s great for the club and fantastic for the team and squad.

“I think it also speaks volumes for the club that this was the place ‘Langers’ wanted to come back to after a few months away.”

He starts training with Oldham immediately and will be in contention for his comeback appearance in the Good Friday fixture, against league leaders Hunslet at the Vestacare Stadium.
