Oldham Athletic have snapped up right back Zak Mills after allowing Rob Hunt to leave the club.

Morecambe’s player of the year last season, Mills played 38 times in a campaign that saw him win three end of year awards at the Globe Arena.

The 27-year-old has signed a one-year deal at Boundary Park.

He plays in the same position as Hunt who Latics announced has departed after mutually agreeing to end his contract early.

Hunt initially joined the club from Brighton in January 2017 before making the move permanent at the end of that season.

The 23-year-old made 90 appearances for Latics, scoring twice.

Mills began his career at Histon, where he made 116 appearances and scored five goals in a four-year period.

He then spent two years with Boston United before making the jump up to the Football League with Grimsby in 2016.

The full back was then off to Morecambe after making 58 appearances for the Mariners and was a key part of the Shrimps’ defence in League Two last season as they finished 18th.
