Laurent Banide wants his Oldham side to build on their opening point of the season when they head to Cambridge tomorrow.

Latics drew 0-0 at home to Exeter in midweek to get up and running after a poor start in League Two.

Now Banide takes his side to face The U’s, third in the early table after two wins and two draws from their opening four games.

“We need to continue, it's important to gain some results for the confidence of the team,” the Frenchman said.

“It's important to push the team because we can do more and we can do better.

“Step by step we must rise to a better level, but we're trying, and I think we can bring out the potential in this team.

“For the moment we are focused on ourselves, we know the qualities of other teams because there are some good teams in this division.

“However, we must focus on our team and that is the important thing at the moment.”

Having welcomed back defender David Wheater on Tuesday night, Banide hopes to have captain Mohammed Maouche and midfielder Christopher Missilou back at the Abbey Stadium after the pair missed the Exeter draw.

“They're feeling well,” he told the club website.

“It's important for the group to have all the players available because it provides good competition, so it's good news.”
