A YOUNG Oldham Athletic goalkeeper has sealed a professional contract in the unlikely surrounds of the Cypriot fourth division.

Ellis Allen was on the bench for the Latics first team a number of times last season but is leaving the club at the end of his two-year scholarship.

The-18-year-old has elected to take up the chance of a deal with APEA Akrotiri after seeing his time at Boundary Park come to an end.

The club have also recruited fellow English players Ethan Hodby, once of Leicester City, and Christ Mayuba, formerly of Birmingham City.

Allen will head to the Mediterranean next month to begin the next chapter in his career having been one of eight scholars to be announced as leaving Latics last month.

Among them was Lewis McKinney who made two substitute appearances in League Two back in October.

Youth team striker Zak Emmerson has been linked with a move to Premier League Brighton after becoming the second youngest player in EFL history at 15 years and 73 days when making his debut last season.

While Allen has found a new club, a full first-team retained list is expected to be announced by Latics in the coming days.
