Player ratings from Rovers' 4-0 win over Coventry City.

Thomas Kaminski 7

Kept his concentration until the end, making a smart save from Giles late on. Appeared to be carrying a knock in the closing stages.

Joe Rankin-Costello 8

A terrific cross-field pass set Brereton away for the penalty. Delivered six crosses, including one excellent one for Holtby in the first half. More conservative in his approach in the second half.

Darragh Lenihan 8

Will have enjoyed a more comfortable afternoon a tricky night against Watford. Kept the ball moving to complete 90 per cent of his passes.

Derrick Williams 8

Was unfortunate to lose his place initially, through no fault of his own, but with the balance of his left foot added something to the side. Completed 90 per cent of his 110 passes.

Barry Douglas 7

Came through an hour on his debut, and delivered several good balls in from the flank, although sometimes a little too eager to look for the forward ball. Got through an hour before being replaced.

Bradley Johnson 8

One superb pass to Holtby for his first half chance and was given more licence to get forward and break into the box. Involved in the third goal and looked to play forward at every opportunity.

Tom Trybull 8

Controlled the game in the centre of the park, and couldn’t have wished for a better scenario for his first start. Cruised through three quarters of the game before being replaced. His presence allowed Holtby to play higher up the pitch.

Lewis Holtby 8

Should have scored one, could have scored four, and managed seven shots in all at goal. Has enjoyed a fine return to the side in the last two matches however, and is a real leader in this team, both vocally and in terms of his use of the ball.

Harvey Elliott 9

Came alive in the second half, scoring his first for the club and creating the fourth for Gallagher. Showed his quality again, but added an end product to his game, both in terms of a goal and an assist. Has settled in quickly to his new surroundings.

Ben Brereton 9 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Had a hand in the first three Rovers goals, claiming assists for Armstrong and Elliott as well as winning the penalty. Completed eight dribbles and was a constant threat cutting in from that flank. All his game lacked was a goal which almost came late on.

Adam Armstrong 9

Didn’t shy away from his penalty duties and added a second early in the second half with a left foot finish. Denied by Marosi in the first half and substituted before really getting a chance to grab a hat-trick. Had shots at goal and looked hungry to find the back of the net

Subs

Amari’i Bell (for Douglas, 61) 6

More confident in his play, with Mowbray hoping Douglas’ arrival will be a benefit to his game. Had a hand in the fourth Rovers goal.

Sam Gallagher (for Armstrong, 64) 7

Slammed home his first of the season from an Elliott cut-back, and better control would have seen him clean through from another Elliott delivery. Played on the right after coming on.

John Buckley (for Trybull, 68) 6

Showed some lovely touches, and use of the ball, after coming on in what was a perfect time to be introduced.
