OLDHAM Athletic fans are being asked to vote on a new club crest.

Latics supporters have until 4pm on Tuesday to have their say online for what will be the club badge from next season.

The current campaign’s 125th anniversary celebrations have seen Latics revert to their old badge following a fan vote ahead of the landmark season.

Now, with tradition in mind, three options have been presented going forwards, the results being presented next summer when the 2021/2022 kit is launched.

The first is based on a badge from the early 1950s and includes the owl from the town’s coat of arms alongside a red Lancashire rose.

Option two goes back to the 1970s with the owl perched over a ball, with the typeface based on that used for the ‘Oldham Athletic’ sign on the main stand.

The third choice is adapted from the 1990s badge with designers looking to modernise the crest that was synonymous with some iconic moments under Joe Royle.

A club statement read: “With the club celebrating its 125th year, it has become clear over the last 10 years and especially this season that the current club crest needs a change to something more traditional.

“After switching back to an anniversary badge and the positive feedback received, Oldham Athletic are proud to present three concept designs based on three of the most popular badges from the past.

“All have had a slight update and modern twist to ensure the club keeps moving forwards whilst acknowledging and being proud of its rich history.”

Fans were given 24 hours to vote HERE with the poll closing at 4pm on Tuesday.

The statement added: “The quick turnaround is due to the deadlines by the kit manufacturer to ensure the new crest can be used on the shirts for the 2021/22 season and beyond.”
