LATICS look set to face a depleted Walsall side when they head down the M6 today.

The Saddlers have not played for two weeks due to their FA Cup exit but issues in training have left boss Darrell Clarke doing something of a headcount with some youngsters set to be involved.

Clarke believes just 14 senior players will be available for Oldham’s trip to the Banks’s Stadium for a meeting between two sides looking to break out of the congested mid-table pack in League Two.

“We’ve had a bit more bad luck, quite a few players have picked up a few injuries,” Clarke told the Express and Star.

“It’s been a good two weeks because we obviously got some good work into the players but it’s also disappointing to pick up a couple injuries.”

And Clarke wasn’t about to give Harry Kewell any hints about which key men might be missing but conceded some young players would have to be involved.

“I’d love to tell you that (who is out) but I’m not going to do some other manager’s job for them,” he said.

“It’s been disappointing in that aspect but it’ll give one or two of our younger boys the opportunity to come and impress and stake their claim.

“There’s also one or two that have maybe been unfortunate that they’ve not had the chance yet this season.

“I’m down to 14 senior players on Saturday.”
