BRADFORD say they have landed a long-term target in Latics striker Danny Rowe.

The Oldham frontman yesterday swapped Boundary Park for Valley Parade for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old was in the final six months of his Latics contract and will now line up for a divisional rival, currently sitting five points and three places below his previous employers in 19th.

The Bantams’ interim manager Mark Trueman was delighted to get his man, saying there were a queue of League Two clubs chasing Rowe’s signature.

“Danny is a player we are really excited to have through the door as the latest of our January recruits in the forward department,” he told his club’s website.

“He has been on our radar since long before the window opened, and turned down several other offers from across the division to be here.

“As well as experience and professionalism, Danny brings a real goalscoring threat to our frontline – which we have already seen a lot of this season.

“He was desperate to join Bradford City, and we are certainly looking forward to seeing him hopefully score plenty of goals for us.”

Rowe leaves almost exactly 12 months after joining Latics following his prolific spell in non-league with AFC Fylde.

As he did at Oldham, the former Manchester United and Preston youngster has signed an 18-month deal at Valley Parade, believing he has joined a “massive club”.

Rowe said: “I am very happy to be here, at what is a massive club at this level.

“I got the call and was desperate to get the deal done and signed. I am concentrated on climbing up the table with Bradford City.

“I have joined to score goals and win games. I cannot wait to get going and am here to stay and be successful.”

Rowe could make his Bradford debut when they head to League Two leaders Cambridge on Saturday.

His reunion with Latics could come when the sides meet at Valley Parade on March 20.
