LATICS’ game with Exeter at Boundary Park on Saturday has been called off due to a frozen pitch.

The Boundary Park pitch was inspected on Friday morning and deemed unplayable after the recent sub-zero temperatures.

The game has been immediately rearranged for Tuesday, March 23, 7pm kick-off.

The early call was made to prevent the Grecians making an unnecessary trip north.

Matt Taylor’s men made it all the way to Barrow on Tuesday night only to see the game postponed less than an hour before kick-off.

It is a second straight postponement for Latics too, the game at Scunthorpe having been called off due to a waterlogged pitch last Saturday.

Harry Kewell’s side have now not played since the 2-1 home win against Salford on January 30.

Oldham are next due to be in action at Forest Green on Tuesday night and will hope to begin a packed run of fixtures that sees them play every Tuesday and Saturday until March 27.

A Latics statement said: “The outcome of the pitch inspection this morning means the Sky Bet League Two fixture against Exeter City this weekend at Boundary Park has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

“This was planned before the Grecians team were going to travel after their unfortunate experience during the week at Barrow.

“With the country battling below-freezing temperatures for the past few days, the situation is unfortunately not expected to improve, considering the forecasts for tonight and tomorrow.”
