KEITH Curle is set to named as the next Latics boss.

The former Manchester City defender left Northampton last month having guided the Cobblers to promotion via the League Two play-offs last season.

He has also had spells in charge of Carlisle and Notts County among others.

The 57-year-old’s departure on February 10 came after the Cobblers had won one of their last 10 matches and were second from bottom of League One.

Curle has been pictured on social media taking Oldham training on Monday morning ahead of the trip to Port Vale on Tuesday night.

He odds of taking over had tumbled to 1/10 with Sky Bet.

Following Harry Kewell’s departure, the next appointment will be the seventh permanent boss since Abdallah Lemsagam took control of the club in January 2018, Pete Wild also having two caretaker spells in charge.

Latics are 16th in League Two after the 0-0 draw with struggling Southend on Saturday that was ultimately Kewell’s final game in charge.
