TYLER Dupree, the young prop from Leeds Rhinos who looks to be an outstanding signing for Oldham RL Club, will be checked out at training tonight after suddenly pulling up with a hamstring injury in Saturday's defeat at London Broncos.

It was typical of Oldham's bad luck so far this season that strong-running Dupree smashed through the Broncos' forward pack just after half-time, ran straight over home full-back James Meadows and looked a certain scorer, only to pull up sharply in great pain.

Broncos led 18-6 at the time, but if Dupree had gone under the posts for 18-12 Roughyeds would have been right back in the game.

Next up is the clash with Halifax Panthers at Bower Fold on Saturday (12.45pm kick-off) and Roughyeds are hoping to field a more experienced side than the one which took on Broncos in the capital.

Seven or eight senior players will be assessed tonight, including Dupree, who missed the pre-season warm-up match against Halifax with an ankle injury received at Featherstone the previous week.

Centre Ben Heaton, who played for seven seasons at Halifax earlier in his career, also missed the friendly because of injury and, like Dupree, he is working round the clock to be fit for this weekend after going off at Batley with an ankle wrapped in an ice pack.

"We are hoping to get two or three senior players back this week, but it's too early to say for sure yet," said chairman Chris Hamilton.

Out of the London game were forwards Martyn Reilly, Liam Kirk, Shaun Pick, Danny Bridge, Phil Joy and Jode Sheriffe as well as centre Heaton and winger Ryan Ince.

Matt Diskin's young guns, including 19-year-old on-loan Wigan prop Jack Bibby, did well to hold the Broncos to 38-24.

They scored four tries, one of them by Bibby, who came off the bench to enhance his growing reputation in his first game at this level.

Outside academy rugby, he had played only one reserve game at Wigan, but he looked the part at Rosslyn Park and he will be available again for Roughyeds on Saturday.
