KEITH Curle has been confirmed as the new permanent head coach of Oldham Athletic.

The 57-year-old today put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Boundary Park.

Curle took charge of Latics on a short-term deal until the end of last season after replacing Harry Kewell in March.

And after securing mathematical safety with three games to spare negotiations were stepped up to extend his tenure with the club.

It has been a lengthy process, with Curle seeking assurances from owner Abdallah Lemsagam over various aspects of his role.

But after signing the deal earlier today, the former Carlisle and Northampton boss said: "From the moment I walked into the football club I knew I wanted to stay.

"It's taken a bit of time to sort out because for me to do my job properly going forwards I wanted to get an understanding of exactly what is required, the expectations and what I'm responsible for.

"I'm confident I can make a positive difference and give this club the platform to be successful. The hard work continues now and I'm really looking forward to seeing the supporters back at games soon."
