HEYSIDE got back to winning ways in the GMCL Premier Division on Saturday with an impressive 98-run win at Prestwich.

The visitors posted 276 batting first and defended it largely thanks to 5-40 from Chirag Khurana.

With the bat there had been half centuries for Alcindo Holder, 65 from just 45 balls, skipper Ryan Barnes, 63, and Matthew Chadwick, 51.

Ayaz Tasawar starred for Greenfield but couldn’t stop them going down to a 25-run defeat at Woodbank.

The hosts posted 238-8,Tasawar taking 5-59 before making 89 in his side’s 213-9 in reply.

Moorside went down to a four-wicket defeat at defending champions and leaders Denton St Lawrence.

Overseas amateur Vataly Wilkinson made 98 as Moorside were all out for 205 batting first, the next highest score just 16.

The hosts got over the line in the 42nd over.

Glodwick lost by four wickets at home to Egerton having been bowled out for 190, Muhammad Mohsin top scoring with 50.

In Premier 2, Woodhouses are in the bottom three after coming up short in a 24-run defeat at home to Bury as the hosts defended 226.

Josh Butler had taken 4-42 and captain Matthew Taylor led the unsuccessful reply with 72 opening the batting.

Royton lost by 10 wickets at Walshaw with Adam Stansfield, 64, and Saif Bhojani, 68, seeing the hosts home, chasing 141.

Micklehurst bowled out Ashton for 99 on their way to a seven-wicket victory.

Werneth beat Glodwick 2s by five wickets, chasing down 124 for victory on home soil.

In Division 4E, Failsworth Macedonia beat Woodhouses by 39 runs and Ashton Ladysmith beat Ashton 2s by 191 runs.
