DARREN Royle has emerged as the broker to the deal to sell Oldham Athletic and Boundary Park and reunite all elements of the club.
A statement released today through the club revealed that a local business was at the centre of the takeover.
And Royle, son of Latics legend Joe, has been the front man for the negotiations, and instrumental in bringing all parties together.
The Oldham Times reported in April that Darren Royle was looking to head-up a takeover.
At the time it was understood that the former executive director and executive chairman of Wigan Athletic had a consortium interested in buying out Abdallah Lemsagam, but they were struggling to agree on a fee, with Lemsagam setting a £6million pricetag.
The identity of Latics' prospective new owner has not yet been revealed but it is not a consortium.
The statement confirmed: "The buyer is not a consortium but a longstanding successful local business."
