KYLE Jameson has signed a one-year deal with Tranmere Rovers after impressing on trial, writes Suzanne Geldard.

The 23-year-old former Oldham Athletic defender has been with the League Two club during pre-season and has agreed terms, having left Boundary Park as a free agent this summer.

Jameson, who was on the youth books of both Chelsea and West Brom, made 42 appearances for Latics in all competitions, but only 15 last season after struggling with injury. The 6ft stopper, who joined Latics after having his contract with AFC Fylde terminated by mutual consent almost two years ago, will form part of Micky Mellon’s squad for the upcoming 2022/23 season.

“Kyle has been with us for a few weeks now and has shown us what qualities he can add to the group to compliment what we already have,” the Tranmere boss said.

“We’re looking forward to working with Kyle and helping him to keep developing and playing a part in helping us to keep moving forward.”

Tranmere’s director of football, James Vaughan, added: “We’re really excited to work with Kyle and helping him develop with us.

“He has shown the willingness to work hard and improve.

“He’s a good age, has encouraging attributes and fits the model of players we want to develop at the club.”
