OLDHAM Athletic will unveil the club's new owner tomorrow, following the completion of the much anticipated takeover.

The identity of Abdallah Lemsagam's successor has been a closely guarded secret since last month's announcement that a deal had been struck to buy the club, stadium and land.

Frank Rothwell, the founder and owner of successful Oldham company Manchester Cabins, has been the name most widely linked with the takeover, which has been negotiated by fellow Saddleworth resident Darren Royle, the son of Latics legend Joe Royle, who is expected to return to the club in an advisory capacity. But there has not been confirmation from any source.

The only information that has been made public is that a long-standing local business came forward with an offer that was accepted by Lemsagam and landlord Simon Blitz to reunite all aspects of the football club for the first time in over a decade.

The process has been sped up by Moroccan businessman Lemsagam and previous club owner Blitz, who owns Brass Bank - the company that bought Boundary Park when the club went into administration in 2004, agreeing "to make significant compromises to enable the sale of Oldham Athletic Football Club and Boundary Park Stadium to be consolidated under one single ownership."

As such, a four-week timeframe was put on getting the deal over the line, so that Latics could begin the new season with new owners in place.

It had initially been hoped that the takeover might be completed in time for the 40th anniversary of Joe Royle's appointment as manager of Oldham Athletic, on July 12.

Although that ambitious target date was not met, the deal has been finalised within the initial four-week deadline.

It is understood that unpopular sporting director Mo Lemsagam, the brother of Abdallah, cleared his office on Tuesday and left the club for the final time yesterday.

A press conference has been scheduled for 5pm tomorrow at Boundary Park. There will be live updates on our website www.theoldhamtimes.co.uk and Facebook page.
