Latics have completed the signing of striker Timmy Abraham on loan from Walsall until January 1.

Abraham, who is the brother of Roma and England striker Tammy Abraham, came through the ranks at Charlton before joining Fulham at the age of 19.

The young forward scored twice for the Cottagers in the Papa Johns Trophy during the 2019/20 campaign, with his goals coming against Wycombe and Stevenage.

He spent last season on loan at League Two side Newport County, scoring three times in 17 appearances for the Welsh club including goals against Ipswich and Swindon in the Carabao Cup.

Abraham also had loan spells at Bristol Rovers, Plymouth Argyle and Raith Rovers and can operate as a wideman.

After leaving Fulham during the summer, the 21-year-old signed a one-year deal at Walsall, linking up with former Newport boss Michael Flynn once again.

“Timmy brings some much-needed pace to the side, physicality and an outstanding work-rate,” said manager David Unsworth.

“He’s someone I’ve been aware of for a long time since his days at Fulham and I’ve followed his career since then.

“He’s a really good lad and he will offer us vital energy and pace at the top of the pitch.”

Abraham becomes the latest addition to Latics’ attacking ranks after Conor Carty arrived on loan from Bolton Wanderers.

Unsworth's men are back in league action tomorrow evening when they make the trip to Halifax Town (KO 5:20pm).

They currently sit in 18th place following Tuesday night's narrow 1-0 defeat at Altrincham.
