A PODCAST dedicated to Oldham Athletic has been nominated for a football industry award.

The Boundary Park Alert System!, which was set up initially by Matt Dean two years ago to highlight fans' angst towards previous owner Abdallah Lemsagam, has been shortlisted in the Best Fan Media category at the the North West Football Awards for the second successive year.

The podcast, which is now also run by Dave Bradley and Andy Halliwell alongside Dean, is up against Stockport County's A Scarf Begara Wore podcast and Manchester City's City Xtra podcast.

Ahead of the awards, which are held at Emirates Old Trafford on Monday night, Dean said: "We are delighted to make the final of the North West Football Awards for the second year running.

"We have covered all the issues at Oldham Athletic, connected fans across the world and helped to deliver real change at the club.

"The podcast is released every Monday morning, hosted and produced by myself, Andy Halliwell and Dave Bradley. Myself and Dave also host the Latics Football Phone In every week via our YouTube channel, where fans can have their say on the week's events.

"We also release a weekly blog on our website, always brilliantly written observations by Arlene Finnigan."

Dean added: "We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved. We covered delicate off-field issues of the Lemsagam era in great detail, when other media sources weren’t at the time.

"We helped put huge pressure on the previous owners, helped re-shape and rejuvenate Oldham Athletic Supporters Foundation and are credited as a huge resource to the new owners decision making ahead of their purchase.

"Winning this award would be very satisfying and an acknowledgement of the countless hours we’ve put in."
