Oldham Athletic's FA Trophy fourth round tie with National League rivals Gateshead is ON after a pitch inspection.

Following extensive rainfall over recent days the decision was made to inspect the pitch at 8am today, before Gateshead boss Mike Williams, his players and staff were due to leave the north east on the team coach.

Match referee Ed Duckworth has this morning taken a good look at the Boundary Park surface, which was heavy in places. But despite further rain forecast today, the game has been given the all-clear to go ahead.

A statement on the Oldham Athletic official club website said: "The pitch at Boundary Park has successfully passed an inspection ahead of today’s FA Trophy tie against Gateshead.

"Match referee Ed Duckworth assessed the playing surface this morning and has deemed it to be playable.

"The match will therefore be played as scheduled, kick-off 3pm."

The Fan Bar located in the Joe Royle (North) Stand will be open from 12pm ahead of today's game with the Manchester derby (kick-off 12.30pm) being shown on the big screens.
