Latics goalkeeper Magnus Norman has been named in the provisional England C squad for the upcoming game against Wales C.

The 26-year-old has been a key factor in Oldham's upturn in form since the turn of the year and is growing his reputation as a brilliant shot-stopper, most notably from the penalty spot.

And this has been recognised by the England National League system ahead of the annual friendly, which will take place on March 21 (kick-off 6.45pm) at Altrincham's Moss Lane, with the final squad confirmed following next Saturday's fixtures.

The England C team was founded in 1979 and selects its players from the National League and below.

Previously the team was limited to Under 24s but this rule was lifted in recent years.

Paul Fairclough has been the team's manager since 2003, having previously been manager of Barnet and Stevenage.

Last year's friendly with Wales C was also staged at Altrincham's Moss Lane stadium, with the Dragons running out 4-0 winners.

The provisional squad consists of 25 players, including three goalkeepers.
