David Unsworth says there is nothing in rumours linking him with the vacant manager's job at Oxford United.

A tweet by transfer specialist website Football Insider this morning suggested that the Latics boss was in the frame for the vacant managerial post at Oxford United.

Unsworth had previously been a target for the U's before he made his first permanent move into management when he took charge at Boundary Park in September.

The ex-Everton man says he does not know anything about Oxford reportedly renewing their interest in him as a replacement for Karl Robinson, who they sacked last month after a run of seven defeats in eight games.

But, regardless, Unsworth insists: "I'm going nowhere" and is intent on repaying the loyalty that Oldham Athletic have shown to him.

"My loyalty to Oldham is long-term because they've given me my first opportunity in management and that means something to me," he told The Oldham Times.

"It means something to me working for Darren Royle and the board, the owners and the chairman because they're great people. Somewhere down the line I will repay that loyalty by not jumping ship at the first opportunity.

"I can't show them that now because that's not happening, but I can in the future.

"The plans for the club long term are amazing. I've seen them, I've been a part of it, it's exciting.

"We've got to run that parallel to the success with the team when that comes. But I think everybody knows in football... any fan who knows football knows that if you keep changing your manager you will not have success.

"You might get lucky now and again and have a spike, it happens, but proof over years and years of studies done on football clubs and successes of football clubs shows that if you stick with the manager, stick with the board, stick with all being together, and the fans stick with you - we've got an amazing environment around the place - you're going to get success."
