Latics winger Jack Stobbs has joined Torquay United on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old, who was signed by former boss Keith Curle in August 2021, is out of contract in the summer.

Stobbs, who began his career at Sheffield Wednesday and had loan spells with Port Vale and Livingstone, has made 43 appearances in total since arriving at Boundary Park, and has scored two goals - both contributing to home draws.

His first goal came in last season's 10-goal thriller against Forest Green Rovers on their way to promotion and the League Two title, while his second was scored on the final day of the 2021/22 campaign as Latics bowed out of the Football League with a 3-3 draw against Crawley.

But Stobbs has been limited to just 10 appearances this season, and has not featured in the side since the 2-2 draw at home to Scunthorpe in early October.

Latics are currently carrying one of the bigger squads in the National League but will be looking to whittle it down further still before next Thursday's transfer deadline.
