The Rothwell family has announced that it has successfully achieved the initial aim of bringing Boundary Park and its surrounding area under single ownership.

In a statement put out on Oldham Athletic's website, the family said that as of tomorrow (Friday, March 24), these first steps will have been achieved.

This means the Rothwell family has secured ownership of the stadium, Little Wembley, the car park and surrounding land, having previously been owned by Brass Bank Ltd.

In the statement put out by Frank, Luke and Su, they said: "It is with great pride that on Friday 24 March 2023 we will have successfully achieved the initial aim of bringing the club and its home, Boundary Park and surrounding land under single ownership.

"Huge thanks and gratitude to Simon Blitz and Danny Gazal. They have been extremely patient, trusted us 100% and honoured the handshake on 9 May 2022. They have been incredible and are forever welcome to Boundary Park. True gentlemen."

The Rothwells said the announcement was something to celebrate and have encouraged fans to attend this Saturday's home game against Solihull Moors at 3pm.

The statement continued: "We are fully committed to make Oldham Athletic a club which is welcoming for the whole community so come down with your kids, parents, grandparents, friends and neighbours.

"If they have never been even better. With Oldham’s support we will make Oldham Athletic and Boundary Park a place we are all proud of.

"The opportunity created by having the club, Boundary Park including ‘Little Wembley’, car park and surrounding land under single ownership is huge."

Last week, it was announced that Oldham Council would be investing £1 million in a new pitch for Boundary Park, which means the stadium will once again be the home of Oldham RLFC.

The Rothwells said this announcement is "just the start" as they are looking for new opportunities to "improve and extend the facilities".

They thanked Darren Royle, Oldham Athletic CEO, Peter Norbury and others at the club for their "relentless" work to make the purchase happen.
