There could be even more departures from Boundary Park this summer, on top of the nine released at the end of their current contracts.

The Oldham Times understands that four contracted players have also been advised to find other clubs in a combined effort to further scale back the squad while also accommodating targets for next season.

Out of contract players Jordan Clarke, Vani Da Silva, Zaine Francis-Angol, Joe Edwards, Oliver Kilner, Lois Maynard, Chris Porter, Jack Stobbs and Trey Turner will all be moving on this summer.

In addition, loan players Timmy Abraham, Ellis Chapman, Peter Clarke and Bassala Sambou have all returned to their respective parent clubs.

Latics are hoping to secure defender Joe Yarney, winger Devarn Green and goalkeeper Matt Hudson on new contracts as manager David Unsworth looks to build on a positive end to last season, while the club are also in negotiations with Academy product Junior Luamba.

But there remains even more room for manoeuvre with existing members of the squad who have become surplus to requirements, and Latics are believed to be open to offers.

Meanwhile, the club has confirmed that the following U18 players have today been offered deals: Aaron Atkinson, Kofi Moore, Frazer Cookson, Llyton Chapman, Favour Okeke and Jake Forshaw.

Harvey Green and goalkeeper Luke Southerington have not been offered a contract.
