ROUGHYEDS will look to get their play-off campaign back on track when they face North Wales Crusaders this Sunday (September 10) at Boundary Park, 3pm kick off, writes Kasey Smith.

Mike Ford’s men fell some way short of Doncaster last weekend, their second loss in a row, but now have a chance against North Wales who beat Workington in last week’s eliminator.

Oldham have a good record against Carl Forster’s side this year having beat them home and away, and they will be hoping they can make it three wins in a row.

Crusaders are a similar side to Doncaster in that their team is packed full of tall, rangy forwards – something Oldham have struggled against this season – and, should Roughyeds overcome them, it will be a good confidence booster.

“I think we were perhaps lacking a bit of self-belief, there was no point I thought we couldn’t beat Doncaster, because we’ve taken them close a couple of times this year,” said Roughyeds assistant boss Brendan Sheridan.

“It’s up to Mike (Ford) and myself to instil that back into the boys this week so that we are firing for North Wales.

“There is a group in there that is going to self-reflect, just like we will as coaches, about whether we got our preparation right.

“We have to front up, be honest with each other and stay humble to go again next week.”

Crusaders, in booking their place in the next round of the play-offs, came back from 10-8 down and scored three unanswered tries in the second forty.

In the last match-up between the two sides, Nick Rawsthorne scored two tries and he will be hoping he can continue the form that has seen him become Oldham’s third highest try scorer, despite only joining towards the back end of the season.

Admission prices are £16 for adults, £10 for concessions, £5 for students and FREE for under-16s.

Hospitality is also available at £25 per person and includes a Q&A with new signing Jordan Turner, pie and peas and a match ticket.
