Charlie Raglan praised a collective effort in securing three points and a clean sheet for the first time under Micky Mellon.

The defender formed part of a new-look backline at Woking, linking up with Harrison McGahey in the absence of the suspended Liam Hogan and injured Shaun Hobson.

The duo were dominant at the back, but Raglan was quick to recognise the roles of others in getting Latics back to winning ways.

"It's the whole team, it's never just one player or a few players. All over the pitch we landed on second balls really well, which is a massive part of the game that people might not always see, but it helps out," said the centre half.

"If we're winning first contacts and we're landing on the next one - the manager's been stressing that. It was good and on the whole I thought we defended well as a team."

And Raglan was just as enthused by their attacking attributes, with the chances created not reflected by the 1-0 scoreline.

"I think we did both sides of the game pretty well," he added.

"On the balance of the game I felt like we had a lot of pressure on their goal, a lot of opportunities - some good play at times. We switched the ball well and found people in the pockets and had sustained attacks, which was helpful for the lads at the back.

"Mikey (Fondop) had a couple of chances across the box and I thought mine was going in.

"It's all right because we won the game, but if it was different we'd maybe be kicking ourselves a bit more. But that's the game."

As it was, Norwood's goal just after the hour - chesting down a delightful ball from Devarn Green and prodding home from close range - was enough to separate the teams.

And Raglan was delighted to mark his return to the side with a win.

"To get the opportunity was nice and I just wanted to give a good account of myself and win the game and we managed to do that," said the former Cheltenham defender, who had been absent from the starting line-up since August.

"It's been tough. Any player would be disappointed to have the length of time that I've not been playing.

"I just try to keep my head down.

"We've had the first manager of the season and then Thommo was the interim so it's been a lot of chopping and changing and the team was the team at the time and we've been doing okay. We have been on a decent run, maybe not enough wins in there but I think everyone's trying to contribute and that's all we want to do as players and I'm no different."

And Raglan is looking for Latics to pick up where they left off as they face another long trip to second placed Barnet tonight (kick-off 8pm).

"It's a tough game, they're doing really well. We just have to look after ourselves and do the little things that we did on Saturday," he said.
