Mat Hudson has challenged Oldham Athletic to make Saturday's point at home to Southend a more meaningful one by beating Bromley.

Latics have taken four points from their last two games - starting with an impressive and important win at Eastleigh - followed by the weekend draw at Boundary Park to open up a four-point gap between themselves and eighth place.

And as they head into their second of back-to-back home games against second placed Bromley tonight (kick-off 7.45pm), goalkeeper Hudson said Latics have to be looking for maximum points and overcome their home hurdles to cement their place in the play-off spots.

Latics had started positively against Southend and should have been in front at half-time, but had to wait until the hour mark for the breakthrough goal.

Ultimately, Nathan Sheron's sixth goal of the season was cancelled out by Noor Husin with just over 10 minutes to go.

And while there was frustrated at not being able to take maximum points after taking the lead, Hudson said it was important to take the positives from the draw.

"We were disappointed that we didn't kick on, we had chances to go 2-0 up, and some good chances as well," said Hudson.

"They had chances and I had to make a save, which is what I'm there to do, so it's probably a fair result in the end.

"We got a good result at Eastleigh, and it's just about backing results up now.

"A point's probably not a bad result, it's not a loss, which is good.

"We obviously wanted to win, we couldn't do that, but there's another big game coming up on Tuesday so we've got to look to try to start fast again and pick up points.

"It was a good three points on Tuesday backed up today with a point. The task is now can we go again on Tuesday night and produce the three points. That's what we really want, to make it a good week."
