Goalkeeper Mat Hudson has urged Oldham Athletic to keep their eyes on the prize, and not worry about the competition.

Latics' game at Aldershot this afternoon (kick-off 3pm) is a battle of two play-off contenders.

Fellow challengers Gateshead, Solihull Moors, Bromley and Barnet are without a league fixture due to FA Trophy action so there is an opportunity to cement themselves in the top seven and gain ground on the teams above them.

But Hudson has advised against getting pre-occupied by external factors and just concentrate on themselves.

"We can't worry about other results," said the stopper.

"We saw the result the Dorking-Chesterfield last weekend and nobody expected that, but it just shows this league is a bit crazy at times - anyone can beat anyone. Kidderminster came here and got a good result and then they went and beat Solihull, who are above us, so it just shows how crazy this league is.

"You can't underestimate any team, it doesn't matter where they are in the league, every game is tough, so we just have to focus on ourselves.

"We know where we want to get to as a club, we've got everything behind us. The facilities are unbelievable here, we've got an amazing squad and we know we should be up there, but we won't get too ahead of ourselves, we'll just keep ticking off the games and we'll be ready to give 100 per cent."

Latics have been playing two games a week since mid February, picking up 12 points in that busy run thanks to three wins, three draws and just one defeat in those seven games. And Hudson has welcomed the chance to get some momentum, particularly away from home ahead of another big trip today.

"You want the games to come thick and fast, especially when we're in a good position in the league now," he said.

"We just want to keep kicking on. It's all about recovery and just going again. When you're a player you want the games to come all the time, especially myself. This is the first season I've had a good solid run of games. I'm enjoying playing and for me it's just keep the games coming."

And as well as momentum, confidence is growing within the camp too.

"The lads are buzzing," said the keeper.

"You look at our away form and we're going into them confident in every game, home games we're also confident, we just want to start fast at home now.

"We know some of the results have been disappointing but it's not through lack of effort. We turn up every game ready to give 100 per cent. We just want to get at teams on the front foot and be ready to pick up points whoever we play.

"Nine games to go, we'll give it our absolute everything. Win, lose or draw we won't get too down, we're always going to try to be as positive as we can and just keep moving on to the next game."
