Mancunian Unity have refused to take their foot off the gas, despite winning a third title and third promotion in a row.

The team romped to the North West Women's Regional North Division, but have gone on to maintain their unbeaten record with wins over Fleetwood Town Wrens Reserves and Penwortham.

It was after a 17-0 rout over relegated Carlisle United that Unity were crowned champions, with four games to spare.

They followed that up by beating Fleetwood Town Wrens Reserves 8-1, with six different players on the scoresheet.

Parker and Bamber both got a brace, while Siddle, Harter, Ince and Shaw all added to the hefty scoreline.

Relegation threatened Penwortham then came to try and spoil the Unity party, with the team being presented with the league trophy after the game at alternative venue Deans Trust School, Ardwick.

After a resolute start from the visitors, Unity opened the scoring on 13 minutes with Shaw rounding the keeper before slotting the ball into an empty net.

From there the goals started to flow, with Ella Barnes adding two further goals in quick succession to make it 3-0 midway through the half.

Ince headed home from a corner in the 25th minute before Shaw completed her hat-trick with two goals in two minutes. The first came just after the half-hour before she completed the treble - her first for Unity - to make it 6-0 in the 34th minute.

Penwortham saw a rifled effort smack the crossbar direct from a free kick before Unity added a seventh straight afterwards. And it was a goal of the season contender for Jade Parker after a Liv Shaw cross was met with a fantastic bicycle kick into the roof of the net.

With one eye on the County Cup final, Unity made a number of changes in the second half but still managed to net a further four goals through Harter, Ince and two from midfielder Hayley McVean.

Unity have only two league games remaining, which will be played as a double header away at Morecambe FC Ladies on May 5, where they will continue their attempt to break a league record of being the first team to finish a season with a 100 per cent record.

The focus is first on the Manchester FA County Cup Final tomorrow (Wednesday May 1) though. Unity take on recently relegated National League North side FC United of Manchester at Rochdale's Crown Oil Arena (kick-off 7.45pm). Unity have never won the County Cup before, appearing in the final two years ago but coming up short in the dying embers of the game.

Prices have been set by Manchester FA at £8 adults, £5 concession and £1 for under 16s.
