BENITO Lowe scored a dramatic last-minute winner as Avro came from behind to seal a 2-1 win at Liversedge FC in the FA Trophy, writes Rob Currell.
The side travelled to West Yorkshire for the match and a crowd of around 200 people watched the fixture take place.
The first-half was a tight affair that saw both teams trying to gain the upper hand.
Unsurprisingly, the two sides came off the pitch at the break with the tie scoreless.
The second-half was a more entertaining affair and the hosts broke the deadlock five minutes after the restart through Joe Walton.
Avro battled to get back in the tie and they drew level in the 71st minute when Liam Ellis rose to head home a cross from Chiekh Thiam.
Buoyed by the equaliser The RO grew in confidence and attacked as they went in search of winner.
Darren Ehimamiegho entered the fray in place of Kyle Hawley and immediately threatened the host’s goal.
Later, the Liversedge keeper made a fantastic save to keep his side in the match.
However, in the final minute of the tie, Benito Lowe won it for Avro with a powerfully struck effort.
“The lads have given us everything,” said Avro joint manager, David Birch.
“We have not been getting the rub of the green and today it changed but your luck changes with hard work.
“The side worked hard and it paid off.”
Avro will now play the next round at home on Saturday, September 21 against a yet to be determined opposition.
