Oldham Athletic will assess Mike Fondop before deciding whether he is fit to play tonight.
Latics take on high flying Forest Green Rovers at Boundary Park (kick-off 7.45pm) just three days after Fondop secured back-to-back wins with a spectacular header against Yeovil Town.
The striker took an elbow to the head soon afterwards, however, leaving him with a wound that had to be glued after the game, and a sizeable lump close to his right eyebrow.
"I was telling the referee because I kept receiving a lot of elbows throughout the game, so when it happened I told him 'that's what I've been telling you'," Fondop explained.
"It happens in football as a targetman, as a striker you get that with defenders. I don't think the guy did it on purpose to be fair, it's just one of those you just get caught.
"It's not the first time it's happened to me so I'll just leave it a few days to settle and hopefully I can be back stronger on Tuesday."
It was not the only injury Fondop sustained on Saturday; the first happened before the game when he cut his hand trying to catch some plates that fell out of a kitchen unit at home.
"I opened a cupboard at home to get a mug to have a coffee, but as soon as I opened it some plates fell. I tried to catch them and I got quite a deep cut," he said.
"When it happened I was like 'I don't need that today'. As soon as I came in I saw the physio and had it bandaged up.
"It's a bit sore but it wasn't going to stop me from playing."
Just as well as things transpired, with Fondop scoring in the first game his dad has watched him play, on his first visit from Cameroon.
"My dad will be here again on Tuesday so hopefully it can be another good one," said the 30-year-old after the Yeovil game.
"But I need to try to get better now because I've got this massive lump on my face and my head is a bit sore.
"But he will be there on Tuesday and hopefully it will be another good experience."
