A close-fought game in the FA Trophy saw visiting Congleton Town defeat Avro 1-0 at the Vestacare Stadium on Saturday, writes Rob Currell.
A Max MaCarthy goal in the 56th minute proved to be the difference maker for the opposition against a capable Avro side who had previously won four in a row.
With the winning streak of their opponents broken, Congleton will now be looking forward to the next round of the competition.
Both sides will meet each other again in the Northern Premier League West Division competition.
Anthony Warburton was awarded as Avro's man-of-the-match in the tight clash after threatening the Congleton defence on several occasions.
His hard-hit cross in the 91st minute nearly connected with Liam Ellis and was Avro's best chance of the game.
Avro now don't play until October 5 when they will look back from their Trophy defeat when they take on Widnes in NPL West on their return to league action.
