Oldham Athletic have added even more firepower with the capture of Kane Drummond on loan from Chesterfield.
A week after signing striker Jack Stretton on a similar deal from Stockport County, Latics have secured the services of 23-year-old forward Drummond until January 5.
And manager Micky Mellon revealed he had played a patient waiting game to recruit the former Liverpool Academy player.
“I’m delighted to get him, I wanted him in the summer, he’s a player I really like,” said the Latics boss.
“We spoke to Chesterfield and they want him to get minutes and continue his development. Paul Cook is an old mate of mine so I’m thankful for their trust.
“It’s a real positive signing, he can play in wide areas and he play up-front. He’s blessed with pace and work rate, the fans will love him so I’m delighted.
“I know the supporters will love the attributes he brings and we’ll look forward to using him and his qualities to help this club move forward."
After completing his short-term move to Boundary Park, Drummond said: “I’m delighted to sign, this is a challenge I’m really looking forward to and I can’t wait to get going.
“The move came about quite quickly, I spoke to the gaffer on Monday and was sold on the project here instantly.
“I want to play football, get minutes under my belt and help this team achieve success which it deserves.
“I’m really excited to work under Micky, his experience speaks volumes. I like the way he plays and I feel it suits my game really well.”
Drummond began his career at Liverpool’s Academy, joining the Robbie Fowler Academy after his release and went on to win The English Colleges Championship and Dubai International Super Cup .
He joined Warrington Rylands in the summer of 2019 and became the club's first contracted player the following January after scoring 10 goals in the early part of the season.
His free scoring form continued in the 2021/22 campaign as his 18 goals helped Rylands win promotion to the Northern Premier Division, contributing to him being named Northern Premier League West Division player of the season, as well as being named in the divisional team of the year.
The striker joined Macclesfield for an undisclosed fee in November 2022, and he joined the club for an undisclosed fee and lifted the Division One West title for the second year running.
Drummond joined newly promoted League Two club Chesterfield on a one-year deal in May this year, after rejecting a new contract from Macclesfield.
