Mike Fondop got the only goal for Latics as they were beaten 3-1 in a behind closed doors friendly with Huddersfield Town.

Following defeat by the same scoreline at home to Championship side Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday, Oldham boss Micky Mellon took his team over the Pennines for the opportunity to build on their match fitness against higher league opposition.

After a goalless first half, Tom Iorpenda broke the deadlock seven minutes after the break.

Jay Sway got the hosts up the pitch quickly before Lynden Gooch delivered a pass that Iorpenda controlled and finished in off the post.

Iorpenda had the chance to double the lead just a minute later, but instead Fondop finished from close range to make it 1-1 in the 74th minute.

Huddersfield struck twice in a minute as the clock ticked down though.

With younger, fresher legs on the pitch, Dylan Tawdozera executed an excellent first-time inside the box, finding the top corner after Latics were caught on the break.

Michael Onyeka, who recently signed his first professional deal, completed the scoring in the 84th minute.
