LATICS have confirmed fans will be able to watch Saturday's friendly with Wigan live online.

The meeting with the League One side will be streamed on the club's Facebook page after the decision was taken to move it behind closed doors.

Supporters had originally been due to return to Boundary Park this weekend only for the club to decide the cost implications of complying with Covid regulations for one game were not viable.

The stream, provided by Stockport-based Envision Images in conjunction with StreetStar, will be free of charge for the 3pm kick-off and will be available to view at any time after the match if supporters can't tune in live.

Envision Images have worked with Latics for a number of years on content creation including professional photography and videography, drone usage and streaming events.

In a statement, Latics warned fans against following any "fake" streams.

It read: "Please note, the live stream will be pinned at the top of the social media page, with a direct link shared ahead of kick-off. Be aware, the usual links advertising live streams in the Facebook comments are still fake, so do not click or interact with them unless it's from the official account."

In deciding to hold the game behind closed doors earlier this week, Latics said: “The decision has been made to play without supporters in attendance as the game takes place two days before the Government plans to lift their lockdown restrictions entirely.

“With this in mind, Boundary Park’s capacity would be significantly reduced further under current regulations and with social distancing measures still in place. This is alongside investing in increased stewarding and other Covid-19 safety measures such as signage for one match for it to be removed completely the week after.

“Oldham Athletic made the decision reluctantly after taking all factors into account and the associated high costs."
