DEAN Furman has finished his Latics trial and has decided to go elsewhere in search of a better offer, Keith Curle has confirmed.

Speaking after the 2-1 win over Crewe Alexandra, the Oldham boss confirmed that the former captain is no longer with the club.

He said: "We got pressurised, not pressurised but we got asked by his agent. He had a few other offers on the table and we understood that.

"We made him an offer and in his opinion, their opinion – him and the agent – he thought potentially he'd be able to get a better offer elsewhere.

"It's one of those. I wish him well, great lad, great professional but every player's got a price and what may be offered elsewhere might be just out of our reach."

On the trialist front, there are still others to be finalised ahead of the beginning of the season.

Tuesday night's goalkeeper played well and also did so against Burnley, presenting a possible back-up option for Jayson Leutwiler.

And Curle has said that he believes there are still others due in through the door at Boundary Park, and the current options are plying their trade at Premier League sides.

"I think he's done well," he added. "I think we've got another coming in: there might be one from Tottenham and there might be one from Wolves.

"The recruitment process hasn't stopped. We're not the finished article. There's still room in the changing room to bring in quality."
