PAUL Hurst has revealed Grimsby Town are closing in on the signing of a new defender – and he hopes to get another new face in before Saturday’s clash with Southend.

The Mariners boss has made clear his intentions to bring in new signings ahead of this weekend’s clash between League Two’s bottom two, with Hurst having lost his two games in charge so far.

Town have made just one signing so far in the January transfer window, with former Lincoln City defender Sam Habergham arriving as a free agent in a deal until the end of the season.

BEN Richards-Everton has left Bradford City and joined Barnet.

The big centre-half has dropped to the National League after ending his time at Valley Parade.

The former Accrington Stanley defender was unveiled by the Bees yesterday on a deal until the end of the 2023 season.

He made 13 appearances this season for Bradford.

The 19-year-old highly rated attacker has been an ever-present for Mark Delaney’s Under 23 squad this season, making 11 appearances and scoring twice at Premier League 2 level.

He has a small taste of professional football having featured for our Under 21 group in the Football League Trophy competition in late 2020, but this will be Wright’s maiden loan spell away from the club.

The 21-year-old attacker signed for the Terriers earlier this week but with the step from the National League to the Championship considered a big one, Huddersefield's head of football operations Leigh Bromby said he will move to a League Two club to continue his development.

KING'S Lynn Town winger Simon Power is expected to complete a move to League Two Harrogate Town in the next 24 hours.

Power, who was on a season-long loan with the Linnets from Norwich City, has been offered a chance to play in the Football League by former Linnets defender Simon Weaver.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, whose contract at Carrow Road was due to expire at the end of the current campaign, is believed to have severed his links with the Canaries.
