KEITH Curle has tonight completed a hat-trick of signings, with the arrival of defender Jordan Clarke.

The 29-year-old, who has spent a total six years with Scunthorpe United, has signed a one-year deal and will be key to helping shore up the Latics defence.

While Oldham were among League Two's leading goalscorers last season with 72, they had the leakiest defence - conceding 81.

That is something Curle has been determined to address.

And having also felt his side was short of leaders last season, Clarke is someone who can tick both boxes, having captained Scunthorpe last season.

"He’s a player and a character this team needs," said Curle.

"His experience says it all and his high standards and leadership skills on and off the pitch will take us up a notch in terms of being solid and competitive.

“It’s a new challenge for Jordan and one he’s keen to take advantage of.

"We’ve done our homework on what he can bring to the team we’re building here and fits perfectly into the type of player we were missing after seeing first-hand what we lacked last season.”

The transfer is subject to FA and EFL approval.
