LATICS have further bolstered their back line tonight, with Harrison McGahey following team-mate Jordan Clarke from Scunthorpe to Boundary Park.

A quick and mobile defender, McGahey has penned a two-year deal with Oldham to become the club's fourth summer signing.

The 25-year-old began his career with Blackpool after representing Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool at youth level.

After breaking into the first team, he was not at Bloomfield Road long before joining Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee in 2014.

He moved to Rochdale two years later, where he became a fans' favourite and made over 100 appearances in all competitions before being sold to Scunthorpe in January 2019.

And Latics boss Keith Curle was delighted to land one of his prime targets.

“He’s a player that has been one of our early targets and I’m pleased to get him into the building," he said.

“It’s another player with lots of potential but he has the experience and knowledge to hit the ground running and will add a more solid presence to our defensive unit.”

The transfer is subject to FA and EFL approval.
