LAURIE Walker has wished Oldham Athletic well after returning to MK Dons.

The goalkeeper was recalled for a second emergency loan spell at Boundary Park after injury to Danny Rogers' and Jayson Leutwiler's contract renegotiations left Latics without a senior stopper.

Walker made 13 appearances for Keith Curle's side last season, including his Football League debut, after Doncaster loanee Ian Lawlor suffered a season ending injury.

He made three appearances in his second spell, signing off with a Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out win over Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night - securing a place in the third round with two spot kick saves.

Confirmation of Leutwiler's registration and revised deal means Walker has returned to his parent club.

The 31-year-old stopper took to Twitter to bid farewell to Latics, saying: "Good luck to @OfficialOAFC and everyone involved round the club for the rest of the season, as ever it’s been a pleasure and thank you for the support you guys have shown me."

Curle expressed his gratitude to Walker, saying: “Laurie’s come in and done exceptionally well. He did very well last season as well.

“I like him as a player, I like him as a person and I like him as a professional.”
