HARRY Vaughan made his international debut, as Republic of Ireland Under 19s played their first game in almost two years.
The young Latics midfielder came off the bench in the first of their friendly double header with Sweden, played in Marbella.
Ireland took an early 2-0 lead but were held to a 2-2 draw.
Manager Tom Mohan is preparing for next month’s UEFA Under-19 European Qualifiers in Bulgaria, where they will face Bulgaria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Montenegro in their group.
And Vaughan has earned his opportunity thanks to some impressive performances for Latics, including his first senior goal scored in the 2-1 defeat at home to Harrogate Town last weekend.
The teenager’s first international call-up means he misses Latics’ trip to Mansfield Town (Saturday, kick-off 3pm).
